Don't Miss These Art Exhibitions!

The autumn season is a wonderful time to hit the Chelsea art galleries! Here are some shows you should not miss - they're closing soon:

1. Michael Krebber at Greene Naftali Gallery - 508 W. 26th Street - 8th floor.
Michael Krebber has been steadily and beautifully building a career that's unmatched in contemporary art. Long considered a painter's painter and a real thinker, he explores the boundary between art and gesture and how few of them he needs to convey his message. I think he's one of the great artists of our time.

2. Richard Serra at Gagosian Chelsea - 555 W. 25th Street. Do yourself a favor and go see how one artist can turn thick sheets of rolled steel into waves of beauty. His sculptures are enormous and you should walk through and lose yourself in them. They really are epic in scale and magnificent.

3. Willem de Kooning - A Retrospective - M.o.M.A - 11 W. 53rd Street.
This is the first museum retrospective to cover de Kooning's entire career. From his earliest figurative works, to his famous paintings of abstract women to his final series of paintings that look as if parts of them disappear (de Kooning suffered from Alzheimer's), he is one of the great artists of the 20th or any century.

Here you go - some high brow to balance out the low brow. Go see some great art. It's good for you.
